About the role
Astuco is looking for an experienced Technical Architect who excels at turning complex requirements into secure, scalable, and high-performing technical solutions. You’ll work closely with a collaborative team, combining strategic oversight with hands-on involvement to design architectures that meet both business and technical needs.
You’ll have the freedom to innovate, build prototypes, develop proof-of-concepts, and guide engineers, ensuring that every solution is robust, efficient, and aligned with our clients’ objectives. This role requires both a deep technical understanding of infrastructure and systems, and the ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- * Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of end-to-end technical architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
- * Collaborate with Application and Service Architects to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are met.
- * Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and support technicians.
- * Define and maintain architectural standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps to guide delivery teams.
- * Support the full IT infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, design, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operational management.
- * Create prototypes, demos, and proof-of-concepts to validate technical approaches and architectures.
- * Participate in estimation, planning, and risk management to deliver projects on time and within quality standards.
- * Produce and review high level and low level designs for coherence, technical quality, and continuous improvement.
- * Identify capability gaps in existing architectures and recommend enhancements aligned with Agile and continuous improvement methodologies.
- * Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying insights to enhance Astuco’s technical capabilities and delivery outcomes.
- * Create clear, concise, and accessible technical documentation to communicate complex information effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- * Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Private Cloud Architect, with significant experience in enterprise infrastructure design and delivery.
- * Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments.
- * Hands-on expertise with VMware technologies, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and Aria Suite; VMware VCP certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- * Deep knowledge of Windows platform services including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, PKI, ADFS, and WSUS.
- * Experience or understanding of containerisation, identity management, and lifecycle management.
- * Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, secure, and highly available systems, including greenfield builds and application upgrades.
- * Strong understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation/orchestration tools.
- * Experience producing high-level and low-level technical designs, solution architecture documentation, and operational runbooks.
- * Strong knowledge of networking concepts, load balancing, and SDN technologies.
- * Demonstrable experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and using DevSecOps tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Git).
- • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to guide and mentor teams.
- * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- * Familiarity with security concepts including Zero Trust, and CIS/NCSC hardening.
